CIIN Promotes Insurance Awareness With Fitness Walk

The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria has expressed commitment to promoting insurance awareness in the country.

The President of the institute, Mrs. Funmi Babington-Ashaye, said this during the CIIN’s annual fitness walk in Lagos on Saturday.

The Chairman, Continental Reinsurance Plc, Chief Ajibola Ogunshola, was the chairman of the event which was well attended by stakeholders in the insurance and broking companies.

Babington-Ashaye said, “The roadshow, as you are aware, is the redesignation of our annual fitness walk, a decision which marks out the roadshow as a special insurance awareness flagship.”

She said the insurers used the annual even as an opportunity to come together and educate the public on why they should have insurance policies.

While noting that insurance companies were in business to ensure the continuity of others, she called on members of the public to place their risks with them.

She said that the institute had continued to promote education by donating insurance books to schools, and encouraging students and National Youth Service Corp members to build career in insurance.

The president appreciated the insurance companies, broking and loss adjusting firms for the actualisation and specific broad offering of the institute’s drive in fostering insurance education.
